Our 900 wildlife detectives included 420 children from St Mary Redcliffe Primary School, plus everyone from toddlers to teachers, parents, experts, Victoria Park Action Group members and park users, alongside local volunteers from Bristol Natural History Consortium, Bristol Naturalists' Society and Avon Wildlife Trust.
We had fun using scientific equipment and learning ecology survey methods, with sweep nets, pitfall traps, moth lamps, bat detectors, mammal footprint tunnels, reptile refugia, LED portable microscopes, binoculars, quadrats, hand lenses, identification guides and expert helpers. We identified and recorded every species that we found in the park.
